Biography

Ben is currently completing his PhD Thesis at University of Northampton, tentatively titled Speculation, Gender and the Utopian Turn in Contemporary Women’s Dystopian Literature. He is due to submit in 2025. Ben completed his undergraduate degree at University of Winchester and Masters at University of Surrey in 2017 and 2019 respectively. Ben received an award for excellence in writing and overall achievement from the University of Surrey. 

Ben's research interests lie in utopian and dystopian literature, critical feminism, science-fiction and the Anthropocene. 

Ben has also taught on a third year undergraduate module, "Literature, Sexuality and the Body", analysing a range of texts from critical perspectives on sexuality and gender. He is currently an associate at University of East Anglia.

Ben is a recipient of grants from Sidney Perry Foundation Trust, Gilchrist Trust and Prism Gift Fund.

Research Interests

After completing by BA(Hons) in Literature at the University of Winchester and my MA Literature at the University of Surrey, I have begun my PhD at the University of Northampton. 

I am currently researching into dystopias written by and about women, paying close attention to the portrayal of environment and the body. 

My research interests are in dystopian literature, utopian literature, sexuality and gender studies, literature and the Anthropocene and of course, feminism.
