Tackling criminal exploitation on campus at the University of Northampton by implementing a community-led approach.

Project Details

Description

Criminal exploitation remains a current issue within university settings. However, the issue remains under researched which leaves student populations vulnerable and allows exploitation to go unchallenged. This project will survey UON students to uncover the extent of the issue amongst the student population. The results of the survey will be presented at a UON Criminal Exploitation Conference hosted by the research team. This will aim to upskill Personal Academic Tutors in their knowledge and understanding of the risk factors, by offering innovative and creative teaching experiences as part of their current teaching programmes. A community-led approach will be developed by allowing students to co-create teaching and learning materials and providing joint reporting mechanisms to protect those at risk from exploitation.
